![]() After graduating Howard University School of Law and beginning her life as a young professional in the city she was led to start Johnna Knows Good Food in November 2007 to keep family, friends and colleagues updated on where to go and what to eat while dining in the nation’s capitol. All four places have heavily influenced her life and the foods she loves today. We were able to eat at our own pace and did not feel rushed at any time by the staff in order that they could turn the table.Johnna French is a Harlem NY native with deep roots in Panama, Washington, DC and North Carolina. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass at moderate prices. Portions are not small, but they certainly are not huge. The food is beautifully presented and not over-seasoned. Service is prompt and attentive without being over the top. For instance, when I asked if they could hold the polenta, our waiter asked if would like a substitute and suggested sauteed spinach. On both occasions this weekend we opted for a simple lunch of tossed green salad and the grilled fish of the day, accompanied by a glass of wine. So when I note its absence, I am truly grateful. ![]() One thing we noticed during the two times we ate there this weekend (yes, we did!!), was that we were never addressed as "You Guys." This is just one of those things in our current culture that I do not appreciate. ![]() Both locations count, but this time we used the Tysons location which was very convenient to our hotel. We love them all, but if we had to love one a little more, it would be Coastal Flats. Great American Restaurants in Northern Virginia is a gem of a small chain.
